Herky on Parade 61-83 +1

As of a couple weeks ago, we finished our Herky Hunt!

This Herky was the first to be vandalized just a few days after they were put up around the area.  Although I could tell where he was pushed over completely breaking both of his ankles, they did an amazing job of fixing Herky and getting him back on his feet!

This was the best we could do after a 5 hour car ride back home from Sibley.  All Jace wanted to do was RUN!  So I scooped him up, Paul snapped, and we left the airport ASAP!  ;)

We learned sometime back in June that there would be a "Hidden Herky" revealed sometime in the middle of summer.  Because we'd gotten the Herky on Parade poster some time ago, we realized that the poster had 84 Herkys on it.  The GOLDEN HERKY was #84!  Social media makes it near impossible to keep anything too secret so after a few people found the Golden Herky located at the Sutliff Bridge between Solon and Lisbon, we knew where to go.  This Herky has since been taken down from the bridge and is now located on Melrose Avenue in Iowa City.

Our Herky family selfie ;)  Jace is sad that our Herky Hunt is over.

Our kids will be really sad when the Herky statues get taken down at the end of this month but we have had so much fun finding all of them!!  Ruby knows where many of the statues are located and makes sure to tell us when we are riding around town!
Our Herky Hunt started on May 5 and ended on July 21.  We took pictures with Herkys on 30 separate occasions.  Sometimes we'd drive by one or two on our way to another adventure and other times we went on a specific Herky Hunt to find certain ones.  The most we saw on one day was 9.  Some of them took us on wild goose chases only to find out they were in the Herky Infirmary and we'd have to come back another time when they were "fixed."  Some of them were moved to new locations throughout the summer but regardless... we found them all!
We hope they do this again in another 10 years!
