Things from Spring

At the end of March, Paul had Lasik eye surgery.  Although I failed to get a picture of him in his recovery goggles, I did manage to get one of each of the kids wearing them!  Paul's surgery went fairly well.  It took several weeks for his eye sight to be completely "normal" but thankfully after some aggressive moisturizing with eye drops, he now has 20/20 vision!

We enjoy the "forest" in our backyard and took many walks through the woods.

We introduced Paul to the Fossil Gorge which easily became one of his favorite spots to explore.

Ruby and I got to have an afternoon out for frozen yogurt before Kindergarten round-up.

In front of her new school!

We took a trip to the Niabi Zoo with lots of friends.

We also introduced Sydney and Asher to the Fossil Gorge...

 ...where we saw a snake!

Jace got to play on his first soccer team!  He got right out there and participated.  However, he did have a few tears so Coach Daddy told him to go sit by mom.  When I asked him why he was crying, he replied, "Because I'm trying to get the ball but everyone else is getting it."  Yep, that's part of it, buddy!  Fortunately, after a short pep talk from mom, he got right back out there and kept after it.

Ruby played spring soccer as well.  Here she is with her good friend, Charlie.

Ruby was so excited to do May Day Baskets!  Jace got to participate this year as well!

Ruby with her wonderful teacher, Mrs. Winstead, after the Spring Concert.

We had an epic hike at Hickory Hill park with our friends Meredith, Charlie, and Emily!  We had never been there before and we let the kids lead the way.  After about two hours of hiking we finally decided to look at the map... and found out we still had a ways to go to get to our cars!  So funny, but we eventually made it with only a few minor meltdowns!

Playdate with Nora

Muffins with Mom Day at preschool

We went to Wild Kratts Live at the Paramount Theater in Cedar Rapids.

The kids helped Papa Gary and Grandma Ruth plant their garden.  And despite the chaos that five children bring in planting a garden, produce actually DOES grow!

These two keep us on our toes...

Lots of park dates...

...and being outside!

Last day of Sunday School for the year.

First trip to the Farmer's Market for the year!

Playing with neighbor friends Ava and Mia.

Jace got to make another trip to the Fossil Gorge with just Daddy.

Playdate with Ellie

We attempted to teach Ruby how to ride with no training wheels.  It was hard.
The training wheels are now back on.  ;)

Ruby graduated from Parkview Preschool on May 25th, 2016!

Ruby and her sweet friend, Faith

Daddy surprised Ruby with a flower for her graduation from preschool.

Since Ruby was finished with preschool, she got to come along to Jace and Annie's last music class with Miss Becky.  Even though Annie was not a fan of picture time, she LOVED music class!  Miss Becky is wonderful and we will miss her as we aren't able to take a music class with her this semester.

Pokey came to visit!  She got to see one of Jace's soccer games and we had so much fun with her while she was here!  We love you, Pokey!
